About…RWA History
back to About
Hmm, now that I mention it, since I’ve recently redone the site, I figured that I had written some sort of history of RWA in the span of 3 years, but now that I look over old files, I’m disappointed to say that I haven’t. Or at least, maybe I did and I was stupid enough to delete it. Ah well, so the world turns. Instead of whacking you in the face with a bookload of information in block form, I’m going to make it easier on your eyes (and your brain) and list stuff. Teehee.
Lookee at my listee: (wow it's pretty long, sorry if your eyes/neck/brain gets sore)
-Hmm...started off when I was around ten. Started reading those confounded Redwall books. Damn things are so addictive.
-At about 11 my friend from church/school/life was reading them too, and he suggested I visit some website on the internet and join and participate in some of the activities. Wow...that was a while ago. But I still remember it.
-Some sort of Nightshade thing...Fort Nightshade! That was it. I barely remember it, but my character's name was rose. I always had a love for the mice variety. Sheesh...I wonder if that site is still up...
-Well, of course I decided I should make my own site, being my ever adventurous self. I had already created a GeoCities site that was based on those cartoon drag and drop dolls...*feels nerdy* so I had a bit of a background. I had also attempted one on angelfire that failed misterabley (can't splee worth a thumb).
-Then...Rosewood Abbey was born. Behold. *cue cheesy music* Actually, it was called Kono Abbey. Couldn't think of anything better. And...well, to make things short, I didn't feel like coming up with a cool name for myself, so I just called myself Koana, based on the name of the abbey.
-I believe the page had a leafy border on the side, and dark red writing on a white background. The paragraphs and information were pretty scattered, and me and my friend were the only members. Oh well. ^.^
-After a while of the page just sitting there with nothing to it besides a few measly links, I decided to dive further into the awesome world of pagebuilding.
-I renamed the place, changed the colors, and added A BUNCH of stuff! The pages were this minty green (you can check one of them out here if you want to see an example. I actually liked the place. Really, I did.
-After having about 15 people join the place, I thought we could use a bit of expansion. I had already created a lot of the games and contests that I wanted to use, but I figured a new layout would help things out.
-I moved meself to Tripod, who has graciously been our host for almost 2 and a half years. At first there were lots of banner ads on the pages, but amazingly, they're almost all gone. Wow.
-Black background, side frame with links, and blue writing. It was my first pure HTML page for the site. I was proud even though it was kinda pitiful. But do you think I care? ^.^ I loved it.
-Obviously I got sick of that, so I decided to mess with the new PSP program that I had gotten. Oh PSP8...how I dearly love thee. I made a site with a top banner that had all the links on it in an image map, and the content was below. Pretty cool. It was all tan...ish and dark brown. Purty cool.
-Once again, learned more stuff even more quickly and all of the sudden I wanted to make a layout that was one giant image map with iframes in it. Sorry if all my HTML lingo is a bit over your head, but I guess you'd have to look it up for me to explain it. >.< Anyway, in short, I made something along the lines of monocromatic (ugh) with an image from redwall.org. I thought it was cool. It wasn't. Ha.
-THEN! Oh yes, best thing ever. I got super creative and made the BEST layout ever. It took me ages, but I used everything I knew and made it look extremely original. You can find a screenshot of it in the site...somewhere. Ha, I'm lost in my own website. It had a white background (nice and simple) and was also a giant image map with iframes. Easy to navigate, and clean. Love that layout.
-By now we had over 60 members and a very active message board. Woot. Part-ay time!
-Then....things started to decline. Lots of conflict, I was busy, and the whole thing basically fell apart. Dark days were these *spooky music*...I tried fervrently to get my friends back and join, but the whole ROC was dying, and we were getting older.
-Let's just say it's been about a year since all that happened. I was about halfway through eighth grade, and frankly people just weren't interested anymore. Plust I didn't feel like updating. So stupid procrastinating depresso meh (haha) shut down the site and said it'd be done by September.
-Well...heh, September came and went. So did October. It wasn't until early November/late October did I stumble across the site which I had started to rebuild over the summer in my spare time. I had found the banner that I use for the site in some old files that I had, and I just thought it would be perfect for the site. I think it works quite well! I finally tackled learning tables and all that kind of stuff, and voila! The most recent, modern, upgraded Rosewood Abbey is here for you to enjoy!
